The R C Electric Boat Is A Great Choice

There are four main kinds of radio controlled boat.  There are sailboats, nitro boats, gas boats and electric boats. There are advantages to each kind of boat but the advantages of an R C electric boat are numerous and you should definitely consider getting one.

An electric boat is simple to keep running and easy to maintain.  It is often cheaper than some of the other types, as well.  Another advantage is sound, or lack of it.  The RC electric boat motor is usually quieter than a gas or nitro boat.  This helps when you're at a park and have to comply with noise ordinances.  Or, if you're in your backyard pool and don't want to disturb the neighbors.

An R C electric boat is faster than you would expect.  You can buy a ready-to-run (RTR) boat that can go up to 15 miles per hour.  This is a pretty good speed right out of the box. If you add on some extra features, you can it up to greater speeds.  If you're just starting out, you probably don't need any more speed than this until you're a little more advanced in the hobby.

Even though a gas boat or nitro boat can be significantly faster than an electric one, that extra speed may be too much for you to handle at first.  Once you begin to get comfortable controlling the direction of an electric radio controlled boat, you can consider moving up to a bigger motor with greater speeds.  If you're using your backyard swimming pool, 15 miles per hour is going to seem pretty darn fast.

Some of the most well-known companies that make a good electric boat are Traxxas, Megatech, and Nikko.  Nikko's boats are really good starter boats.  Megatech is a little more advanced, and makes a good variety of boats that are a good quality for the price.  Traxxas makes very high quality boats and if you are looking to stay in this hobby full time, you should check out Traxxas.  Traxxas boats are easy to maintain and are built to last.

There's also the Megatech H20 Elite speedboat.  This boat is pretty fast, getting up to speeds of about 15 miles per hour.  It's also relatively inexpensive and a whole lot of fun.

Each type of boat has its pros and cons.  They're certainly all enjoyable.  For a good balance of speed, price, durability, and ease of use and maintenance, an R C electric boat is hard to beat.
